Key responsibilities:

The Management Accountant works in partnership with the Head of Finance (HoF) to ensure the correct financial information is reported to various key stakeholders.  They need to be completely across the finance detail of the business including current systems to ensure continuous improvement in efficiencies. They are key to keeping finance systems and practices in line with commercial requirements that support business growth and change.

Management Accounting:

  • Managing the month end and management account preparation process – must meet strict completion deadlines
  • Review ledger postings, accruals and prepayments to ensure accurately reporting monthly performance
  • Revenue recognition – work with Commercial Operations Director to ensure the correct revenue has been allocated to the correct period based on tasks complete
  • Complete submission of monthly figures to Group
  • Prepare monthly management reporting pack, to include P&L and balance sheet
  • Provide full variance analysis of management accounts to budget/forecast
  • Co-ordinate the preparation of subsidiary accounts with local accounting firms

Cash Management:

  • Prepare detailed fortnightly cashflow forecast
  • Work with Assistant Management Accountant to ensure all inflows and outflows are being incorporated into cashflow forecast
  • Manage treasury accordingly and inform HoF of how we are tracking, noting any significant movements expected over the next 3 months

Financial Accounting:

  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns
  • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts (salary control, pensions, PAYE, NI, etc.)
  • Support preparation of documentation required for year-end audit
  • Liaise with external auditors on matters regarding year-end audit

Commercial Finance:

  • Assist in preparation of annual budget and quarterly re-forecasts
  • Analyse timesheet information provided by Project Management, to determine employee utilisation
  • Monitor and report profitability, by department and product, preparing reports for senior management
  • Work with the HoF to review existing and new product pricing and evaluate client fee costings

Financial Stewardship and Systems:

  • Ensure the team provides high quality, accurate and timely finance information to the business
  • Identify immediate and longer-term areas for financial and operational efficiency, working with the HoF and relevant department heads to formulate action plans and where necessary reporting to SLT
  • Nurture working relationships across the business to ensure the finance team have the correct data to report the most accurate and up-to-date information to directors
  • Manage Paprika system, staying aware of platform developments to identify improvements and efficiencies that benefit the business
  • Train all team members on Paprika including existing team members and new starters as and when required

Essential skills and experience:

  • Part qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA)
  • Paprika software experience is ideal or can demonstrate experience of using integrated accounts and job management software
